New Yorkers are ignorant (not all, I guess)New York state, that is.
I read in this
Wired article that New York state is trying to get more windmills to help
their power grid. Good, I thought. We have windmills around here everywhere, and
they don't really bother anyone. They produce clean energy, don't polute and
hey, maybe only kill a bird or two a year (or at least significantly less
than get killed by other means). Sounds pretty good, huh?
However, the citizens of New York have started a
campaign against the windmills, lead by a billionair guy who started
some company I never heard of in the first place. Now, if they were to
contribute some real arguments I would agree with them that the plan might not
be so good after all. But instead of doing so they absolutely contribute nothing
but FUD. For example, take the following quote:
What. The. Fuck. Where does this speaker
even get the guts from to make this comparison? It is outrageous, really. Not to
mention, wind turbines don't make any sound at all unless you stand on top of it
or are in a proximity of like, 5 meters! I've even stood in the middle of a wind
turbine park, and you couldn't hear the turbines at all! Here's another dumb
one:
Yes. Our death rate because of strokes
caused by sunlight bounching of the blades is alarmingly high.
</sarcasm>. Come on people, who makes up these things? Strokes caused from
sunlight?! And if you don't believe us, ask the Danes (sp?) who have even MORE
windmills than us. Oh, here's another cool quote:
No, actually, I think that's because of
all the chemical shit they are eating nowadays. Really, how can wind mills,
which produce nothing but power and a bit of air flow cause five menstrual
cycles a month?! What scientific prove is there for this extremely
stupid claim? What, they stare in to the blades for too long, which makes them
dizzy and then they suddenly get five cycles (if they weren't killed by a
stroke, first, that is!)?
And now the best part of the whole
article.. It defines what most of America is about these days:
Aahh.. Living the American dream to the
fullest. |
