MSNP13, Encryption?

Okay, so this idea just popped in my head, and I have no idea whether it is accurate or not, so I'll just post it here and let you guys decide.

First some basic data: In MSNP13, several commands have changed including the XFR and RNG command. Both commands now contain several new parameters, such as "N", "D", "U", etc. The RNG command also indicates "messenger.msn.com" for some reason. Furthermore, there is rumored to be encryption support in future versions of Windows Live Messenger for things such as your chats, perhaps file transfers, etc.

So I stumbled across a small article the other day that talked a bit about User Agent strings for browsers. Interesting enough, these strings usually contain a letter indicating the encryption strength. This letter can be U (USA, 128 bit strong encryption), N (No encryption) and I (International, 40 weak encryption).

I think you see where I'm going with this. What if MSNP13 is indicating what encryption types it supports, or what the client is allowed to use? We would already have a match for the U, and the N. The D can be explained as "Default" -- Use whatever the local OS indicates is the default encryption strength.

This is the most sensible explanation for the new parameters I can think of, or have ever heard of so far. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it!

Noooo! I'm all out of TV series!

Yes. It's true. I am all out.

So they never aired StarTrek Deep Space Nine, seasons 6 and 7 over here. Being very very annoyed at that, I downloaded them, and watched every episode in a time span of about 2 weeks. That's right, 2 whole ST seasons in 2 weeks. And damn, it was good. Especially the final episode. So so so sad though. So now I've seen all episodes of DS9 and Voyager (over 3 times), AND Enterprise. Maybe I should also download The Next Generation. I never liked the original series, though. Hmm.

Last week I started downloading Scrubs -- It's an awesome series.. Needless to say, it was so awesome that I watched all five seasons in less than a week. That equals 24*5 episodes, which is (24*5)*20 minutes, which is 1 2/3 days. That's right, I spent a whopping total of almost 2 days watching Scrubs. Good thing a sixth season has been confirmed, although it won't be for a while before it's being aired :-(

But Scrubs is not the only thing I watch. I like Lost too. In fact, I usually lay my hands on the latest Lost episodes right after they have aired in the US (they are like 10 episodes behind over here on TV). Too bad the second season of Lost has ended last week with an extra-long episode (woot that was good!).. And it won't return until October later this year, which like totally stinks because they finally got S2 back up its feet (honestly, I thought the first half of S2 wasn't anything near as good as S1 was).

Besides Lost and Scrubs I also like to watch The 4400, a serie about 4400 people returned to the past after being "abducted by the future". Unfortunatly, S2 ended a week or two ago (over here at least), and I'm waiting for season 3, which won't air until June 11th in the US. I'm really looking forward to watching The 4400 again, maybe even more than Scrubs or Lost. Hmm. No, Scrubs still wins hands down.

So that brings me to my final question: Are there any series you think I should watch? But please, no drama-only series, I hate those. Or soaps, I hate soaps too. Although one could argue that some of the before-mentioned TV series are somewhat soapy. Anyway, go ahead, suggest some kick-ass TV series! ... Pretty please? :-)

A disaster.

My chair broke. Now I'm sitting ~30cm too low. :-(

Tres Cool

So, yesterday we (me, TB/FW, Juzzi and Jeroen) went to Amsterdam.. Microsoft HQ to be precise! We heard someone from the MSN US team was coming over (Tony Bristol), so we decided to meet up with him.. And while we were at it, we had a little tour through the building by Joost Bon. It was short, but really really great. And probably the best thing is that we got a bag of goodies (consisting of a tshirt, some emoticon buttons, a little light, free music and a Windows Live branded notepad).

Also, FW gave me the link to this WLM promo site, and told me to watch the animation on the right. Trés cool! Did you see it? No? Watch the buddy list, at the top, it starts with BOT... ;-) Woo!
